Traffic Control Statuses

Live Status and Ready Status

Some elements used for traffic control have two statuses: Live Status and Ready Status.

Stringent definitions vary from element to element. Generally speaking, while Live Status indicates whether the element is in a state where it can be used, Ready Status indicates whether the element is actually used.

In most times, Ready Status automatically follows Live Status to have the same value as that of Live Status. However, when Ready Status is disabled explicitly or set not to follow Live Status automatically (Remove Manually/Restore Manually is enabled), they can have different values.

	Live Status	Ready Status
Site	Up if Ready Status of even one of the endpoints registered with the site is Up. Otherwise, Down.	A site does not have Ready Status.
Endpoint	Up if all monitoring results of effective monitoring in the site are Up. Down if any of the monitoring results contains Down or if no effective monitoring exists.	Down if that endpoint is disabled. When the endpoint is enabled and: If Remove Manually and Restore Manually are disabled, Ready Status follows Live Status to have the same value as that of Live Status. If Remove Manually is enabled, Ready Status does not follow the change of Live Status from Up to Down. If Restore Manually is enabled, Ready Status does not follow the change of Live Status from Down to Up.
Method	Entry method (entry_a, entry_aaaa, entry_cname) Up if Ready Status of the follow-up method is Up. Otherwise, Down. Condition method (failover) Up if Ready Status of even one of the follow-up methods is Up. Otherwise, Down. Finalizer method (exit_site, exit_sorry) For exit_site, Up if Live Status of the follow-up site is Up. Otherwise, Down. For exit_sorry, always Up.	Down if that method is disabled. If enabled, Ready Status follows Live Status to have the same value as that of Live Status.

Monitoring Result

Monitoring to be linked to endpoints takes the status shown below. The monitoring result with Up or Down as the status is used for Live Status judgment of an endpoint. If the status is Unknown, it is regarded that monitoring is not set to the endpoint.

Monitoring Result	Meaning
Up	Monitoring succeeded
Down	Monitoring failed
UnKnown	Result unknown. This is a temporary state between linking of monitoring and execution of the first monitoring task.

Notification Resulting from a Status Change

If any of the following status changes occurs, a notification written in the set language is sent to the notification account set in Common Settings.

Live Status of a site has changed.
Ready Status of an endpoint has changed.
The monitoring result linked to an endpoint has changed.

Of these changes, when Live Status of a site has changed, a notification is given by email and by telephone. For other changes, a notification is given only by email even if you set Phone Number.

Details of each notification message are as shown below. Wording according to what settings you have configured and what has actually occurred is reflected to {...} in the examples.

A notification is sent by email and telephone. Telephone notifications originate from the telephone number "0120-552-314."
