Setting New Zones

Use the following procedure to set newly obtained domains to the DNS server.

  1. Sign up for the Managed DNS Service.
Perform contract procedures for the Managed DNS Service. Refer to "Applications and Procedures" for more information.
  2. Configure zone settings.
To configure zone settings, decide on an operational procedure and use the following pages as a reference according to your form of utilization.
You can configure zone settings even before the utilization start date (the zone status is "Unpublished").
  3. Apply for a name server.
Confirm that the utilization start date has already passed and the zone status is "Published" on the control panel’s "Dashboard > Service List" screen.
Refer to "Registering and Changing Name Servers" to apply for a name server. Once the application is complete, you can use the name server as a DNS server as soon as it has been reflected to a higher DNS server.

  4. Apply for DNSSEC.
When "DNSSEC Signature Setting" is enabled on the control panel’s "Dashboard > Service List > DNSSEC Management" screen and a message saying "Register the DS record below on a higher name server." is displayed, register the DS record being displayed with the higher zone (domain registry). If you use "Domain Management Service," the registration will be taken care of automatically. Therefore, the above message will not appear and you will not have to perform the above operation.
As soon as the DS record has been registered with the higher DNS server, you can do validity verification using DNSSEC.
