Operating DNS with Managed DNS Servers Only
This section describes how to operate DNS only with the Managed DNS Server provided by this service, without the need for you to prepare a DNS server.
- Check Common Settings.
Check the following contents of common settings. Add common settings if necessary.- "Primary Server Address" in "Primary Name Server Settings" is not set.
- While "Managed DNS Server" in "Secondary Name Server Settings" is enabled, both "Zone Transfer Request Permission" and "DNS NOTIFY" are not set.
- Apply the common settings of procedure 1 to the zone.
Refer to "Change Common Settings" for how to configure the settings. Edit records on the Record Management screen.
Edit records other than the NS record as needed.[ Reference ]
In the NS record, there are three servers for the Managed DNS Service described in their initial state. Do not change them.
If you have mistakenly rewritten the descriptions, edit the descriptions by referencing the Zone Information on the Record Management screen to return them to their original state.
Register name servers.
Register three servers for the Managed DNS Service. For forward zones that have the same name as the domain for which you have signed up with the Domain Management Service (JP type, organizational JP type, gTLD type), you can register them by clicking "Name Server Registration" on the Name Server Registration screen.
If you have not signed up for the Domain Management Service, apply this registration to your registrar (designated business operator).
For reverse zones corresponding to the IP address range assigned by IIJ, you can register them by clicking "Name Server Registration" on the Name Server Registration screen.
You need to link the contract for IIJ’s various line services to which the IP address range is assigned to the IIJ DNS Platform Service before registering the servers.
For IP address ranges assigned by companies other than IIJ, apply to the organization that assigned the IP addresses.
Register DS records.
You can register DS records only when the DNSSEC signature is enabled.
Refer to "Updating DS Records" for more information on DS records.
